July 07th marks the death anniversary of the legendary Gaurav Tiwari, the prolific “ Paranormal Investigator ”. Hailing from Patna, he was the ‘ Founder cum CEO ’ of the “ Indian Paranormal Society ” the first of its kind in India. Recently, one of my close acquaintances sent me an instagram post demanding justice for a class 11th student, who committed suicide by hanging herself in her maternal grandfather’s house. The reason being ‘ mental & sexual harassment ’ by two people. Prior committing suicide, the girl wrote a side note praising the good behavior of her maternal grandfather’s family and accusing the principal’s girl & another boy for harassing her. That instagram post demanded shares as much as possible, so as to bring it in the mainstream media and thus, speeding up the judicial process. Sounds good ! The post not only revealed the face of the girl, but also didn't bother to hide her sensitive credentials, which is unethical. 2013, class 8th, when I was standing behind the class cum science teacher in punishment. She called the interim class monitor and asked her to get the topics reviewed by her colleague (other science teacher) whether she has ‘ omitted ’ enough topics to be ruled out to be taught in class or not. It was “ Chapter 9 – Reproduction in Animals ” and the topics were “ Human Reproduction ”, including male reproductive system & female reproductive system respectively. Why did she omit those topics? Wasn’t she qualified enough to teach those topics? Yes, she was aptly qualified & experienced to do so, but she felt that it wasn’t the right time. The Sex-Education in India has always been a matter of ignorance, carelessness and prejudices, but it hasn’t been the case in history.
